Craftivism
For my final degree project I made a short documentary about craftivism; whether it can make a difference to society, why people are using a 'quieter' approach to activism and questioning how diverse the movement really is. To show all aspects of the movement I filmed at protests, on canal boats and in the cultural city of the year, Hull. I also used archive footage of craftivism and created stop motion animations.Interviewees include-Sarah Corbett from the Craftivist Collective and Betsy Greer, who defined craftivism as a term.
Disability sport
During the final year of my degree I worked in a team of three to create a news package about funding within disabled sport in England. I managed to secure our case study, Wheels for Wellbeing, a charity which gives people the chance to cycle, whatever level of ability they may be.
Stop motion KAM snaps
While interning for the Eternal Maker, a haberdashery and pattern making company based in my hometown of Chichester I made their first YouTube video. I came to them wanting to expand their social media and video content, as this is such an integral part of the craft industry nowadays. I filmed and directed a how-to attach KAM snaps.
Recycling food
In the second year of my degree I made a film about recycling food in London. I followed the Hare Krishna group who hands out food to the homeless and students.
Beekeeping
In a group of three I produced a film about beekeeping, looking specifically at bees kept on the roof of City University London.
Mountains-to-Sea Trail
While studying at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill I produced a film about the Mountains-to-Sea Trail which runs across the state. This was a challenge for me, as it was the first documentary I have produced in another country. I found the experience hugely vital to my progress as a filmmaker. The film was featured on the local television network, UNC-TV.
